Heard learned counsel for the parties.
By means of the present petition, the petitioner is seeking a direction to the District Magistrate, Azamgarh to decide the application of the petitioner dated 24.10.2017 for grant of firearms licence pending before it, within stipulated period.
To this prayer, learned Standing Counsel raises no objection.
Be that as it may, without entering into the merits of the claim made by the petitioner, the present petition is being disposed of with the direction to the District Magistrate, Azamgarh to decide the application of the petitioner dated 24.10.2017 for grant of firearms licence, expeditiously, preferably within a period of three months from the date of submission of certified copy of this order.
It goes without saying that this Court has not entered into the merits of the claim made by the petitioner. The competent authority shall apply his own mind with the application independently and take a decision on merits.
