Petitioner's mother was assigned duties during the COVID-19 pandemic and has died as a corona warrior. An application for payment of ex gratia compensation in terms of the Government Order dated 1st June, 2021 has been made by the petitioner but the authorities have not taken any decision and hence this writ petition.
Learned Standing Counsel states that the issue involved in the present case can be examined by the District Magistrate at the first instance.
In view of the above, this writ petition is disposed of with a direction to the fourth respondent to ensure that petitioner's claim is got examined in terms of the Government Order and appropriate action in terms thereof is taken within a period of three months.
Liberty stands reserved to the petitioner to approach the fourth respondent along with copy of this order annexing all materials in support of such claim within a period of two weeks.
