JUDGMENT / ORDER

The petitioner is a holder of Passport bearing No.F0223686. The petitioner's date of birth is wrongly entered as 18/5/1958 in the Passport. The correct date of birth is 16/5/1962. The petitioner relies on SSLC book for correcting the passport. The petitioner made a request before the second respondent for carrying out necessary correction in his Passport. On account of non consideration of his request by the second respondent, the petitioner filed this writ petition. 2. The learned Assistant Solicitor General submits that the petitioner was in possession of his SSLC book at the time of applying for the Passport. The petitioner is suppressing the actual date of birth. He is holding the Passport for more than 30 years.
3. This Court in the decision in Nizar v. Union of India (2014 (4) KLT 609) held that the Passport Authority can make W.P.(c).No.31750 of 2014 : 2 :
necessary corrections in the entry relating to the date of birth without insisting for any orders. However, the petitioner has to establish the genuineness of the claim.
4. In view of the above, there shall be a direction to the Passport Authorities to correct the date of birth of the petitioner, on being satisfied with the genuineness of the petitioner's claim, in accordance with law, within a period of four weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this judgment.
The writ petition is disposed of as above.
