The grievance of the petitioners in the present writ petition is regarding constructions of Panchayat Bhawan over a land which the petitioners claim to have been recorded as 'Khalihan' in the revenue records. It is the grievance of the petitioners that the plot was reserved for 'Khalihan' and its purpose cannot be changed without following the procedure established in law.
The petitioners may make a representation before the Collector, Gorakhpur who shall get the matter inquired into and decide the representation within a period of six months from the date a copy of this order is produced before him and also take appropriate action in accordance with law depending on the decision taken by him on the representation of the petitioners.
It is clarified that this Court has not expressed any opinion on the merits of the claim of the petitioners.
With the aforesaid direction, the writ petition is disposed of.
