This writ petition is filed for a mandamus declaring the action of the respondents in not granting new electricity power connection to house bearing No.6-30/1, Seshadrinagar, Porlupalem, Vepagunta, Pendurthi, Visakhapatnam in spite of receipt of new power connection charges for Rs.2,525/- under 7 days scheme vide acknowledgment PR No.CSCPDT-24887, Reg.No.PDTNSCOS-7500, dated 21-01-2014 as illegal and arbitrary and for a consequential direction to the respondents to grant new electricity connection to the house of the petitioner.
2. The grievance of the petitioner is that he is absolute owner and possessor of house bearing No.6-30/1, Seshadri Nagar, Porlupalem, Vepagunta, Pendurthi Mandal, Visakhapatnam. It is stated that after construction of the said house, he applied for new power connection under domestic category by paying prescribed charges of Rs.2,525/- under (7) days scheme vide Acknowledgment PR No.CSCDT-24887, Reg.No.PDTNSCOS- 7500, dated 21-01-2014 and that in spite of receipt of the prescribed fee, the respondents have not provided new power connection to his house and even though the petitioner made several requests to the concerned authorities for getting new connection, the respondents have not taken any steps for granting new connection. Aggrieved by the same, the present writ petition is filed.
3. Heard the learned counsel for the petitioner and the learned standing counsel for the respondents.

Since it is stated that the application of the petitioner dated 21-01-2014 for granting a new power connection is pending before the respondents, I deem it appropriate to direct the 2nd respondent to consider and dispose of the application as per the Regulations and take appropriate action accordingly, as expeditiously as possible, preferably within a period of three (3) weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of the order.
5. With the above direction, the writ petition is disposed of. No costs. As a sequel thereto, miscellaneous petitions, if any, pending shall stand closed.
