Petitioner had applied for appointment to the post of Village Development Officer, pursuant to advertisement issued by the U.P. Subordinate Service Selection Commission, Lucknow. The Commission has declared final result on 18.7.2018. Although 3133 posts were to be filled, but only 2942 posts have been filled inasmuch as result in respect of remaining posts has been withheld awaiting certain clarification/verification of records.
Petitioner has scored 77 marks, which consists of 65 marks in written test and 12 marks in interview. The cut-off for selection to OBC category is 77 marks.
In terms of the advertisement issued for appointment, it was provided that where large number of persons have scored cut- off marks, then preference would be given to marks obtained in written test. Submission is that only such candidates have been selected, who have scored 77 marks, which consists of 67 and above marks in written test and 12 marks in interview. Petitioner has scored 65 marks in written test. It is for this reason that petitioner has not been selected. Although learned counsel for the petitioner has made various submissions, but the facts narrated above have not been disputed.
In view of the fact that petitioner has scored marks below the cut-off in the respective category, he can have no grievance. Writ petition is, accordingly, dismissed.
