JUDGMENT / ORDER

(Order of the Court was made by the Hon'ble Chief Justice) A comprehensive counter affidavit has been filed by the fourth respondent setting forth the steps taken on account of the Statewide Drought and the endeavours for amelioration of conditions of the affected farmers.
2. On our query, the petitioner appearing in person states that what is claimed in the counter affidavit of 17 deaths of farmers is not correct, as the figure given in the writ petition of more than 200 farmers' deaths is based on newspaper reports. He further submits that he had sought information under the Right to Information Act, but the information was not furnished. However, no document has been filed with this petition in support of the said stand.
3. In view of the stand taken in the counter affidavit, no directions are required to be issued in the petition. However, on the issue of the numbers of farmers' deaths, if any information has been sought by the petitioner under Right to Information Act, he may inform the learned Government Pleader who will ensure that the information is furnished as per law.
The petition is disposed of accordingly. No costs.
