The petitioner is a holder of Passport bearing No.K 4296546. The petitioner's case is that she was born in Mundakkayam. But, her place of birth is wrongly shown as Kottayam in the Passport. She wants to correct the place of birth in the passport. The petitioner approached the passport authority. On account of non consideration of her request, she filed this writ petition. 2. On instructions it is submitted that the petitioner has to produce the original of the document satisfying the genuineness of her claim. On being satisfied with the genuineness of the claim, the passport authority can correct the place of birth in the passport.
3. In view of the above, after obtaining the prior permission of the passport authority, the petitioner shall produce the original of the documents showing the correct W.P.(c).No. 31466 of 2014 : 2 :
place of birth in order to enable the passport authority to correct the entry regarding the place of birth of the petitioner. On being satisfied with the genuineness of the claim, necessary corrections shall be made in the passport of the petitioner regarding the place of birth. Needful shall be done within a period of four weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this judgment.
The writ petition is disposed of as above.
