Heard learned counsel for the petitioner and learned Standing Counsel for the respondents.
The grievance of the petitioner is that he applied for renewal of firearm licence vide application dated 5.12.2014 but the said application has not yet been decided by the respondents.
Learned Standing Counsel submits that vide G.O. dated 09.05.2014 and the amended G.O. dated 15.7.2016 for grant/renewal of firearm license, the prescribed proforma/procedure has been provided to be filled up/followed by the applicant and as such, petitioner shall approach the Authorities by moving an application in the prescribed proforma, which will be considered and decided expeditiously.
In view of the above, without expressing any opinion on the merits of the issue and considering the facts and circumstances of the case, this writ petition is disposed of with the direction that in case petitioner approaches to the Authority concerned by way of filing fresh application in the way and manner as has been provided in the G.Os. dated 09.05.2014 and 15.7.2016, the competent authority would consider and decide petitioner's application by a speaking order within a period of four months from the date of production of a certified copy of this order before him.
