The petitioner is the holder of an Indian Passport bearing No.H 9869389. The petitioner requested for renewal of passport. According to the petitioner, though passport has been renewed, the passport has not been released to the petitioner. Thus the petitioner has approached this Court. In the matter, a statement has been filed by respondents 1 and 2. It is stated that the passport authorities have addressed to the District Police Chief to verify whether any pending cases in which the petitioner is involved. Annexure-A1 is the communication issued by the passport authorities. It is on account of delay in such verification, the passport authorities refused to renew the passport.
2. The learned Govt.Pleader on instructions submits that there were two cases in which the petitioner was WP(C).No.16466/2010-G.
2 involved. In Crime No.69/93 of Contonment Police Station the petitioner was discharged on 25.8.2013 and also in Crime No.94/2004 of Museum Police Station on 30.6.2004. In view of the above no other criminal cases are pending against the petitioner, the passport authorities shall release the passport to the petitioner.
This writ petition is disposed of as above.
