Heard learned counsel for the petitioner and the learned Standing, appearing for the State- respondents.
The petitioner came to have married in some Temple. A Hindu marriage cannot be solemnized on Rs.100/- stamp-paper. There is no authenticity of any kind of marriage. On 16.5.2018, they have got married. They could have got the marriage registered by now.
However, if they proved before the police that they are living together even today, the police may grant them protection keeping in view the observations made by the Apex Court in Gian Devi v. The Superintendent, Nari Niketan, Delhi and others, (1976) 3 SCC 234; Lata Singh v. State of U.P. and another, (2006) 5 SCC 475; and Bhagwan Dass v.
State (NCT of Delhi), (2011) 6 SCC 396.
With these observations, the writ petition is partly allowed.
