The petitioner joined the Respondent Department as Grade-II Police Officer on 30.04.1988, and he is serving as Special Sub-Inspector of Police in Prohibition and Enforcement Wing, Uthangarai, Krishnagiri District and he was awarded Certificate of Commendation by his senior officers for doing a commendable job in detection of crimes and maintenance of law and order in Krishnagiri District, during the year 2016. Subsequently, Women Police Constables who were recruited as Grade-I Police Head Constable directly in 1991 batch and completed 25 years of service, were promoted as Sub-Inspector of Police on 19.02.2016. Whereas the petitioner who was appointed as Grade-II Police Constable in 1988 batch and completed 29 years of service, was denied the opportunity of promotion and still serving as Special Sub-Inspector of Police. Therefore, the petitioner has given a representation dated 06.02.2017 to the Director General of Police, Chennai. Since the Respondent did not consider the representation of the petitioner, the petitioner come up with the present writ petition.
2.M.Digvijayapandian, learned Additional Government Pleader appearing for the Respondent takes notice and sought for sufficient time to consider the petitioner's representation dated 06.02.2017 which is pending consideration.
3.This Court accepting the request of the learned Additional Government Pleader appearing for the Respondent, 6 weeks time is granted to the Respondent to consider and dispose of the petitioner's representation dated 06.02.2017, which is pending consideration, on merit and in accordance with law.
4.The writ petition is disposed of accordingly. No costs.
