... RESPONDENTS THIS WRIT PETITION IS FILED UNDER ARTICLES 226 AND 227 OF THE CONSTITUTION OF INDIA BY THE PETITIONER-IN-PERSON PRAYING TO DIRECT RESPONDENTS TO GIVE PREFERENCE TO KANNADA LANGUAGE IN THE STATE OF KARNATAKA AND DECLARE AS THE OFFICIAL LANGUAGE OF THE STATE OF KARNATAKA.
THIS PETITION COMING ON FOR PRELIMINARY HEARING THIS DAY, THE CHIEF JUSTICE MADE THE FOLLOWING:
ORDER This is a writ petition filed in public interest seeking a direction on the Government of Karnataka to give preference to Kannada language and to declare it as the official language of the state.
2. This is a matter of policy decision of the State.
We cannot issue any direction as the one sought for.
3. Therefore, the writ petition stands dismissed.
4. In view of the dismissal of the writ petition, the interlocutory application does not survive for consideration, and it is accordingly disposed of.
5. We make no order as to costs.
