THIS PETITION COMING ON FOR ORDERS, THIS DAY, THE COURT MADE THE FOLLOWING:-
O R D E R The petitioner is claiming to be a student of B.E. course in Computer Science Engineering stream, prosecuting his studies in respondent No.2 – College since 2006-07. The petitioner was required to complete the course within a period of eight years from the date of first admission in terms of the Regulations of the Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU). It transpires that on the request made from the students admitted during the academic years 2006-07, 2007-08, 2008-09 with a prayer to relax the maximum duration for completion of their course and also permit them to appear for the University examinations, the Notification dated 27.10.2016 has been issued by the VTU relaxing the maximum duration for undergraduate programs providing two additional years to B.E./B.Tech/B.Arch. students, both regular and lateral entry (B.E./B.Tech.) admitted during the said academic years. However, results of the petitioner for the 7th and 8th Semesters were not announced by the University.
2. Learned counsel for respondent No.1 has filed a memo submitting that the University has announced the results of the petitioner for the 7th and 8th Semesters and the copy of the result sheets are also produced for the perusal of this Court.
3. The memo is placed on record.
4. Learned counsel for respondent No.1, however submits that in terms of the Notification dated 27.10.2016, the petitioner is permitted to take up the backlog examinations on or before June, 2019.
5. The petitioner is at liberty to avail the benefits of the said Notification.
With the aforesaid observations, the writ petition stands disposed of.
