JUDGMENT / ORDER

The petitioner has filed this writ petition challenging Ext.P6 order of the second respondent by which he has been directed to stop the functioning of a match factory that he has been conducting. The allegation against the petitioner is that he has been burning sulphur causing acute pollution and nuisance to the residents of the locality. The limited relief sought for by the petitioner is, permission to run the factory till remedial measures are properly undertaken by him. 2. Advocate M.R.Arunkumar appears for the first respondent. According to the counsel, the burning of sulphur may not be permitted, for the reason that it gives rise to not only pollution but also health hazards. The petitioner is willing to undertake that the remedial measures would be completed within a short period of time.
3. In view of the above submissions, I am satisfied that the 2 W.P.(C).No.32760 of 2014 petitioner can be granted some time to install remedial measures to solve the problem.
This writ petition is therefore disposed of directing the second respondent to keep all further proceedings based on or pursuant to Ext.P6, to close down the factory of the petitioner, in abeyance, for a period of two months from today. The petitioner shall in the meantime install the remedial measures to ensure that his factory does not cause pollution or health hazards to the residents of the locality. The remedial measures taken shall be inspected by the first respondent and the efficacy thereof shall be certified within the time limit of two months stipulated above.
