Heard learned counsel for the petitioner, learned Standing Counsel for the State respondents and perused the record.
The prayer of the petitioner is to issue a direction upon the respondent no. 3, Designated Officer (Food Safety), Kanpur Nagar to take decision upon the application.
The grievance of the petitioner is that he has applied for a license to sell chicken meat. The application has been filed before the District Magistrate, Kanpur Nagar under the provision of Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006 on which no decision has yet been taken.
Considering the nature of the relief sought, without expressing any opinion as to whether license could or should be granted, we deem it appropriate to dispose of this petition by requiring the third respondent, Designated Officer (Food Safety), Kanpur Nagar to take decision on the application of the petitioner within a period of six weeks from the date of filing of copy of this order.
