The petitioner seeks issuance of Writ of Mandamus, directing the respondent to consider the petitioner's representation dated 10.08.2017 and also direct the respondent to issue fresh passport to the petitioner.
2. Heard Mr.G.Anbu Saravanan, learned counsel for the petitioner and Mr.P.Paulpandi, learned Central Government Standing Counsel for the respondent. Perused the records.
3. According to the petitioner, he obtained passport in the year 1977, showing his date of birth as 20.04.1951. When a new passport was issued on 28.08.1990, his correct date of birth was mentioned as 07.06.1965. Again, in the year 2012, a new passport was issued showing the correct date of birth. But the respondent cancelled the passport on 22.08.2016 stating that the petitioner had furnished wrong date of birth.
4. The case of the petitioner is that his original date of birth is 07.06.1965. But, when he applied for the passport in the year 1977, wrong date of birth was given as 20.04.1951. Thereafter the petitioner filed a petition in Cr.M.P.No.670 of 2012 and his date of birth was also corrected by the Judicial Magistrate No.II, Sivagangai. Thereafter, he gave a representation to issue fresh passport on 10.08.2017. Since it was not considered, the present writ petition has been filed.

In the light of the limited prayer sought for in this writ petition, this Court, without going into merits, directs the respondent to consider the representation of the petitioner and pass orders on merit and in accordance with law, within a period of four weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.
6. With the above direction, this writ petition is disposed of. No costs.
