The petitioner is aggrieved with the rejection of the nomination made by the petitioner to the DSU Election 2014- 15 under the 3rd respondent. The petitioner contends that the petitioner along with three others had filed nominations to different posts in the Department Students Union by Exts.P1 to P4. The nominations were rejected only for reason of overwriting as is indicated in the endorsement in the nomination papers. The rejection was intimated by Exts.P5 to P8. A representation given before the Grievance Committee was referred with a query to the Registrar by Ext.P9. The elections are to be held on 30.10.2014 and the petitioner claims that Exts.P1 to P4 should be accepted and the candidates be allowed to contest in the election. 2. The learned counsel for the University would submit that with respect to the rejection of nominations, the authority to look into it, is the University Dean of Students Services and the 5th respondent is the Chairman of the WPC.No.28055/2014 : 2 :
Students Grievances Redressal Cell, which is not connected with the elections at all.
3. In any event, the petitioner alone can be granted any relief, since the persons who have filed Exts.P2 to P5 are not before this Court. The petitioner cannot claim that he has filed the above writ petition in a representative capacity. With respect to the rejection, on looking at Ext.P1, there is no overwriting as such. In such circumstance, the petitioner shall be permitted to contest the election and the ballot papers shall also be issued with the petitioner's name; in the election to be conducted on 30.10.2014.
Writ petition is disposed of.
