The petitioner seeks correction of the date of birth erroneously recorded in his passport and has approached this Court alleging that the respondents are not effecting the necessary corrections in his passport. Sri.T.Sanjay, Central Government Standing Counsel appearing on behalf of the respondents has filed a statement dated 29.4.2014 to the effect that the petitioner had not produced the earlier passport issued to him for the purpose of verification and that is the reason why they did not consider his request for correction of the date of birth till date. Taking into account the statement filed by the respondents, I dispose the writ petition with the following directions:
(i) If the petitioner files a representation before the third respondent accompanied with all necessary documents and copies of the decisions of this Court which he is relying WP(C).No.11623/2014-C.
2 on, the third respondent shall forward the same to the competent authority to take a final decision in the matter;
(ii) The competent authority shall consider and pass appropriate orders on the application preferred by the petitioner in accordance with law within a period of one month from the date of receipt of the said representation.
The writ petition is disposed of as above.
