Heard learned counsel for the applicant.
This petition alleges disobedience of the following order passed on 18 January 2018 by the learned Judge:
"This is collective petition by 14 candidates. According to the learned counsel for the petitioners they have been selected for appointment in seven departments mentioned in para 3 of the impleadment application. The newly impleaded respondents No. 4 to 10 may consider issuance of letter of appointment to the petitioners in case the petitioners have been selected by the Commission and there is no other legal impediment in doing so within a reasonable time. The writ petition is accordingly disposed of."
Presently and on the state of the record, the Court notes that the collective petition which has been preferred would necessarily entail this Court evaluating the conduct of seven different departments in respect of offers of appointment to be made in favour of fourteen candidates. Such an exercise would necessarily give rise to various competing issues. This petition cannot be proceeded with since it is impossible to evaluate the conduct of seven departments all of which would constitute a separate and distinct cause of action.
Accordingly, while this petition is dismissed, it is left open to the applicants to approach the Court again individually in respect of their claim against a particular department.
