Heard Ms. Tanisha Jahangir Monir, learned counsel for the petitioner and the learned Standing Counsel for the State- respondent nos.1 to 8.
This is a writ petition for seeking a direction to the concerned authority to provide security to the petitioner, which was earlier provided from time to time since 2012.
On the last occasion also when the security cover was withdrawn, the petitioner filed a writ petition being Writ Petition No.6122 of 2018 (Smt. Shaukuntala Devi vs. State of U.P. and others) and this Court directed the respondent no.1 to consider the security cover being provided to the petitioner and pursuant to the order of this Court, the security cover was given to the petitioner for a period of six months. Now after expiry of six months, the petitioner has again made an application that threat perception continues and, therefore, security cover given to the petitioner be extended.
It is to be noted that now a District Level Scrutiny Committee has been constituted by the District Magistrate for providing security to the citizens after considering threat perception.
The petitioner may move an application before the District Level Scrutiny Committee with regard to threat perception and the District Level Scrutiny Committee will consider the claim of the petitioner and pass appropriate order, in accordance with law, as far as possible within two months from the date of presentation of a certified copy of this order.
With the aforesaid observation, the writ petition is finally
disposed of.
