JUDGMENT / ORDER

The Writ Petition has been filed seeking to issue a Writ of Mandamus, directing the 1st respondent to pass order on the appeal preferred by the petitioner dated 02.08.2016.

2. The case of the petitioner is that she has been serving as Revenue Inspector from 2004 after promotion from the post of Junior Assistant. However, she suffered an order of punishment dated 31.05.2016 for recovery of a sum of Rs.88,200/- at the hands of the 2nd respondent. Aggrieved by the said order, the petitioner preferred an appeal before the 1st respondent on 02.08.2016. Since the same has not been disposed of, she has also made two remainders dated 10.3.2017 and 05.05.2017 requesting early disposal of her appeal. But, no action has been taken on the same. Hence the present Writ Petition.
3. Mr.RAS.Senthilvel, learned Additional Government Pleader, who takes notice for the respondents, sought 12 weeks time to dispose of the petitioner's appeal.
4. Considering the limited prayer made in the Writ Petition, without going into the merits of the claim of the petitioner, this Court directs the 1st respondent to dispose of the petitioner's appeal dated 02.08.2016 on merits and in accordance with law, within a period of eight weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this Order.
5. The Writ Petition is disposed of accordingly. No costs.
