JUDGMENT / ORDER

COMMON PRAYER Writ Petitions filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, for issuance of a Writ of Mandamus, directing the third and fourth respondents to consider the request of the petitioners seeking permission to occupy the land belonging to the third respondent Town Panchayat in Southern Portion of the western side of the Sayalkudi Bus Stand on payment of deposit amount and monthly rent at a rate to be fixed by the third respondent Town Panchayat in accordance with the petitioners' representations, dated 12.10.2009, within the time fixed by this Court.
Heard Mr.N.Dilip Kumar, the learned counsel appearing for the petitioners and Mr.D.Sasikumar, the learned Government Advocate, appearing for the respondents.
2. At this stage of the hearing of the writ petition, the learned counsel appearing on behalf of the petitioners had submitted that it would suffice, if the third respondent is directed to dispose of the representations, dated 12.10.2009, on merits and in accordance with law, within a specified period.
3. The learned Government Advocate appearing on behalf of the respondents, has no objection for such an order being passed by this Court.
4. In view of the submissions made by the learned counsels appearing on either side, the third respondent is directed to dispose of the representations, dated 12.10.2009, on merits and in accordance with law, after giving an opportunity of hearing to the petitioners, as well as to the other parties concerned, as expeditiously as possible, not later than eight weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. The petitioners are directed to furnish a copy of the representations, dated 12.10.2009, to the third respondent, along with a copy of this order. However, it is made clear that this Court, by this order, has not expressed any opinion on the merits of the matter.
5. Accordingly, the writ petitions are disposed of, with the above directions. No costs.
