Heard learned counsel for the petitioner and the learned Standing Counsel.
This petition has been preferred seeking a direction for the petitioner being sent for practical training and thereafter being posted as Sub Inspector in Civil Police.
The relief itself is sought on the assertion that although the petitioner has been found fit for promotion, his case has been kept in sealed cover on account of pendency of a criminal case in which the petitioner is a named accused. Reliance is essentially placed on a Government Order dated 28 May 1997 in terms of which it is asserted that in case the trial continues for more than a year then the sealed cover is liable to be opened and the resolution of promotion given effect to.
Learned Standing Counsel states that subject to all contentions on merits being left open for the consideration of the second respondent, the claim of the petitioner shall be duly considered and disposed of in accordance with law and preferably within a period of two months from the date of presentation of a certified copy of this order.
Accordingly and without going into the merits of the claim of the petitioner, this petition shall stand disposed of in light of the statement noted above.
