JUDGMENT / ORDER

The petitioner has filed the above Writ Petition to issue a writ of mandamus directing the respondents 3 and 5 to accept the SBNs (Specified Bank Notes) which are returned by the XVII Metropolitan Magistrate, Saidapet, Chennai-600 015 in Crl.M.P.No.4018/2016 in PRC No.121/2015 dated 06.01.2017 and exchange the same with new currency notes for the same value in accordance with the directions issued by the Madurai Bench of Madras High Court, by its order dated 30.11.2016 in Suo Motu W.P.(MD) No.21985/2016.
2. The writ petition relates to demonetization of the old currency notes of Rs.500/- and Rs.1,000/-. The Hon'ble Supreme Court of India in the order dated 16.12.2016 made in W.P.(Civil) No.906 of 2016 has observed as follows:-
“... We further direct that no other Court shall entertain, hear or decide any Writ Petition/proceedings on the issue or in relation to or arising from the decision of the Government of India to demonetize the old notes of Rs.500/- and Rs.1000/- as the entire issue in relation thereto is pending consideration before this Court in the present proceedings”.
3. In view of the directions given by the Hon'ble Supreme Court of India, I do not find any reason to entertain the present writ petition. Accordingly, the writ petition is dismissed, following the directions of the Hon'ble Supreme Court of India. It is open to the petitioner to move the Hon'ble Supreme Court of India seeking for appropriate relief. No costs.
