JUDGMENT / ORDER

PRAYER: Criminal Original petition filed under Section 482 of Criminal Procedure Code, to direct the second respondent to file the final report in Crime No.4 of 2016 dated 20.01.2016 pending on the file of the second respondent police.

2.Heard Mr.G.Ramanathan, learned Counsel for the petitioner and Mr.A.Ramar, learned Additional Public Prosecutor, who takes notice for the respondents.
3.The petitioner is the de-facto complainant and wife of one Mr.M.L.Rajesh, who is the proposed first accused. The petitioner gave a complaint for dowry harassment and other cruel conduct of her husband and her in-laws. Though the case was registered in Crime No.4 of 2016, on 20.01.2016, for the alleged offences punishable under Sections 498(A),406,294(b) and 506(i) IPC and Sections 3 and 4 of Dowry Prohibition Act, no final report is filed by the respondent till date. It is stated that the delay is also on account of the fact that the proposed fourth accused is working as a Head Constable in the Police Department and that therefore a direction by this Court to the respondents to file a final report will be in the interest of justice.
4.The learned Additional Public Prosecutor, on instructions, submitted that the investigation is almost over and that the second respondent may be directed to file a final report within a period of three months.
5.Considering the nature of grievance expressed by the petitioner, this Court is inclined to pass the following order:
?The second respondent police is directed to file a final report in Crime No.4 of 2016 within a period of three months from the date of receipt of a copy of this order?
6.As a result, the Criminal Original Petition is allowed, accordingly.
