The petitioner is a claimant in L.A.R.No.141/2006 of the Additional Sub Court, Ernakulam. The petitioner complains that the petitioner's husband is sick and laid up. The land was acquired for widening of the National Highway-17 by a notification dated 14.03.2002. The possession was taken on 13.12.2003 and the compensation amount was enhanced by judgment of this Court dated 22.01.2010, which is Ext.P1. The petitioner complains that, the award amount has not been paid till date. I have heard the learned Government Pleader also.
2. Since the amount has been pending payment for a number of years, it is only appropriate that the same is paid without further delay. It is also worth noticing that, delay in making payment entails loss to the State also, the interest that is charged being 15%.
In view of the above, this writ petition is disposed of directing the respondents to pay the compensation amount due to the petitioner by depositing the same before the Sub Court, Ernakulam in LAR No.141/2006 within a period of three months of the date of receipt of a copy of this judgment.
