Prayer made in the present petition is to issue a direction to the licensing authority/District Magistrate, Muzaffarnagar to decide the application moved by the petitioner for grant of fire arm licence under the Arms Act' 1959. A copy of the application in the prescribed format has been filed as Annexure No.1 to the writ petition to state that the said application was filed before the licensing authority.
However, till date, the same has not been adjudicated on merits.
Considering the said fact, without adverting to the merits of the claim of the petitioner, the writ petition is being disposed of with the direction to the licensing authority/District Magistrate, Muzaffarnagar to decide the application moved by the petitioner for grant of fire arm, expeditiously, preferably within a period of three months from the date of submission of certified copy of this order after seeking verification report.
