Heard learned counsel for the petitioners and learned standing counsel for the State.
This is a petition on behalf of petitioners seeking protection from this Court claiming to be married with each other on 17.7.2018.
It is alleged that the private respondent are interfering with the marital life of the petitioners and they have apprehension to their life and liberty hence, they seek protection.
Learned Standing Counsel for the State has raised objections contending that marriage has not been registered and there is no documentary proof of marriage.
I am in complete agreement with the learned Standing Counsel for the State. The prayers prayed for, in the absence of any documentary evidence cannot be granted as it cannot be even prima facie said that they have got married.
Hence, this petition lacks merits and is dismissed.
However, opportunity is granted to the petitioners to move the police authority with all documentary evidence to show that they have got married and if that is done, the police authority may grant them protection after proper scrutiny.
