JUDGMENT / ORDER

These writ petitions have been filed for issuance of a Writ of Mandamus directing the respondents to give permission and police protection to conduct Gramia Nadana Natiya programme (dance programme) on 21.02.2017, 22.02.2017 and 23.02.2017 in connection with Masi Thiruvizha celebrations of Nethimedu Thanneerpandal Sri Maha Kaliamman Thirukoil at Nethimedu, Salem District.
2. It is the grievance of the petitioners that they had submitted representations dated 21.01.2017 to the second respondent, seeking permission to conduct the dance programme in the event of Thanneerpandal Sri Maha Kaliamman Thirukoil Masi Thiruvizha, scheduled to be held on 21.02.2017 to 23.02.2017, but till date, no orders have been passed either granting permission or rejecting the said representations made by the petitioners.
3. Heard the learned counsel for the petitioners and the leaned Additional Public Prosecutor, who took notice for the respondents.
4. The date on which the programme is scheduled to be held, is going to be over today itself, in respect of W.P.No.4312 of 2017. Therefore, no useful purpose would be served, if any direction is given in respect of that writ petition. Further, in respect of other two writ petitions, the programme is scheduled to be held on 22.02.2017 and 23.02.2017. The learned counsel for the petitioners seek disposal of the petitioners' representations one way or the other. Therefore, without going into the merits of the claim made by the petitioners, this Court directs the respondents to consider the representations of the petitioners dated 21.01.2017 and pass appropriate orders on merits and in accordance with law.
