Heard learned counsel for the petitioner and learned Assistant Government Pleader for the respondents.
2. This writ petition was filed challenging the action of the respondents in continuing the rowdy sheet i.e., history sheet No.213 on the file of the 4th respondent police station against the petitioner even though the petitioner was acquitted in all the criminal cases and what remains was some bind over cases.
3. The learned Assistant Government Pleader filed a copy of written instructions issued by the Sub-Inspector of Police, Repalle Police Station, Guntur District, wherein it is stated as follows:
“It is humbly submitted that keeping in view of the involvement of series of offences by the petitioner herein to curb and curtail his unlawful activities in the vicinity of Repalle Police Station after obtaining permission from the then Sub-Divisional Police Officer, Bapatla, a rowdy sheet vide sheet No.213 has been opened against the petitioner herein on 01.11.1991. Since then, the said rowdy sheet has been continued and renewed from time to time on the rolls of Repalle Police station, Guntur District and it stands extended till 18.01.2008.
It is respectfully submitted that since the petitioner did not involve in any criminal cases thereafter, the then Sub-Divisional Police Officer, Tenali Division, has closed the rowdy sheet of the petitioner herein on 19.01.2008. The said fact was also informed to the petitioner herein.”
4. Recording the said statement of the Sub-Inspector of Police, Repalle Police Station, with regard to closure of the rowdy sheet on 19.01.2008 against the petitioner, the writ petition is closed. Pending miscellaneous petitions, if any, shall stand dismissed in consequence. No costs.
