The instant petition has been filed for a direction to the Principal Judge, Family Court, Meerut to expedite the disposal of Divorce Petition No.859 of 2018 under Section 13 of the Hindu Marriage Act, 1955.
Counsel for the petitioner points out that the defendant has already entered appearance in the proceedings and is contesting the same.
Section 21-B of the Hindu Marriage Act specifically provides that all proceedings under the Act should be held on a day to day basis and effort should be made to conclude the proceedings as far as possible within six months from the date of service of the petition on the respondent.
In view of the aforesaid provisions under the Act, I am of the opinion that no further direction is required.
The petition is accordingly disposed of.
