The grievance of the petitioners is that the appeal filed by them under section 22 of the U.P. Urban Buildings (Regulation of Letting, Rent and Eviction) Act, 1972 was pending since 2009 despite the statutory provision in the U.P. Urban Buildings (Regulation of Letting, Rent and Eviction) Rules, 1972 that an appeal had to be decided within six months of its filing.
Under such circumstances, without going into the question as to why the appeal had lingered for such a long time, it is being directed that the Appeal No.121 of 2009 (Rajendra Kumar Gupta & Ors. Vs. Mishri Lal & Ors.) shall be decided within a period of six months from the date of presentation of a certified copy of this order, if there is no other legal impediment.
The writ petition is, accordingly, disposed of.
