Heard learned counsel for the parties.
The petitioner who is the District Supply Officer assails an order of suspension of 16 March 2021. The order is based on various complaints in respect of irregularities committed in the distribution of essential commodities. The order records that various complaints have also been received with respect to corruption in the concerned office. Without going into the veracity of the allegations which form the backdrop of the impugned order which include the observation that these acts of corruption could not have been committed without the knowledge or connivance of the petitioner, the seriousness of the allegations levelled compels this Court to conclude that the order of suspension merits no interference.
Learned Senior Counsel has in support of his submissions drawn the attention of the Court to an interim order passed by a learned Judge in Writ-A No.6129 of 2021 to submit that in an identical matter relating to another employee who stands named in the impugned order, suspension had been stayed. However, as this Court reads the aforesaid order it notes that the same neither assigns nor records any independent reasons apart from merely noticing the contention of the petitioner.
The petition consequently fails and shall stand dismissed.
However, notwithstanding the dismissal of this petition, the Court only observes that since the order of suspension was passed in March 2021 and no charge-sheet has been submitted till date, the respondents shall endeavour to conclude the disciplinary proceedings with expedition and preferably within three months from today subject to the petitioner cooperating with the enquiry and not taking any unnecessary adjournments.
