JUDGMENT / ORDER

The petitioners, who apprehend arrest for the offences punishable under Sections 506(i) of IPC r/w 3(1)(s) and 3(2)(va) of the S.C.and S.T.(Prevention of Atrocities) Amendment Act, 2015, in Crime No.138 of 2017 on the file of the respondent Police, have filed this petition seeking a direction to the learned Principal District and Sessions Judge, Salem to consider their bail applications on the same day on merits.
2. Mr.C.Emalias, learned Additional Public Prosecutor, takes notice for the respondent.
3. Heard both sides.
4. Considering the facts and circumstances of the case, the learned Principal District and Sessions Judge, Salem, is directed to accept the surrender of the petitioners and consider their bail applications on the very same day purely on the basis of merits and to pass suitable orders, in the event of the petitioners surrendering before the said court within 15 days from the date of receipt of a copy of this order and filing of petition seeking bail.
5. This petition is ordered accordingly.
