JUDGMENT / ORDER

1. Heard Sri Anil Kumar Mishra, learned counsel for the petitioners as well as learned Additional Chief Standing Counsel for the State respondents through video conferencing in view of COVID-19 pandemic.
2. By means of present writ petition the petitioners have prayed for direction in the nature of mamdamus thereby commanding and directing the respondents not to compel the petitioners to deposit their arms licence in pursuance to the notification issued by the U.P. State Election Commission for the forthcoming Panchayat Elections.
3. It has been submitted by learned Additional Chief Standing Counsel that the Panchayat Elections have already concluded on 26.04.2021 and therefore, the present writ petition has been rendered infructuous by efflux of time.
4. Learned counsel for the petitioner does not dispute the aforesaid facts.
5. Accordingly, in view of above, present writ petition is dismissed as infructuous.
