JUDGMENT / ORDER

The present criminal original petition has been filed seeking a direction to the respondent to conduct investigation in Crime No. 221 of 2008 and find out the whereabouts of the husband of the petitioner within the time frame to be fixed by this court.
2. It is the case of the petitioner that she has lodged a complaint with the Respondent police, about the missing of her husband by name G.Rangarajan, who is a physically challenged person, which was registered as FIR in Crime No.221 of 2008 by the respondent police. Though the complaint was registered on 01.05.2008, till date, no enquiry was conducted and no final report was filed. Hence this petition.
3. Heard the learned counsel for the petitioner and the learned Additional Public Prosecutor, who took notice for the respondent.
4. Considering the fact that the case is pending from the year 2008, this Court is of the view that the inordinate delay on the part of the respondent in filing the final report cannot be countenanced. Therefore, this Court directs the respondent to investigate the case in Crime No.221 of 2008 pending on his file and file a final report as expeditiously as possible, preferably, within a period of three months from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.
