Ashok Bhushan, Ag.CJ. This Writ Petition has been filed as public interest litigation seeking a direction to the first respondent to appoint an independent agency to conduct an environment impact assessment over the Maliyekkal Hilly area of Ward No. 12 of Puramattom Grama Panchayath and till such time no mining activities shall be allowed to be carried out in that area.
2. Learned counsel appearing for respondents 4 and 5 submits that the respondents were granted permission for filling W.P. (C ) No. 10510 of 2012 J 2 red earth for the purpose of laying down railway line which work has already been completed and no activities are being undertaken by the respondents at present.
In view of the above submission, this Writ Petition has become virtually infructuous and, accordingly, this Writ Petition is dismissed as such.
