JUDGMENT / ORDER

The prayers in the writ petition are with respect to periodical revision of taxi fare in proportion to the escalation of price of fuel, living index, etc. and for a direction to re-fix and notify the minimum fare. 2. These are matters coming within the purview of the State and it is often done on the representation of the affected parties and the Unions of the autorickshaw owners. This Court cannot issue any writ under Article 226 of the Constitution directing revision of fares nor re-fixation and notification of minimum fares, since that would depend upon looking at the cost of fuel, essential commodities, living index and so on and so forth.
In the above circumstance, the writ petition would stand closed, leaving open the remedies of the petitioners before the appropriate authorities.
