JUDGMENT / ORDER

COMMON PRAYER:Writ Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India to issue a Writ of Mandamus directing the respondent to consider and pass orders on the petitioners representation dated 10.04.2017 for disbursing the compensation amount due to the petitioners at Rs. 1100/- per cent together with all the statutory benefits within a time limit to be stipulated by this Hon'ble Court.

2.By consent, these writ petitions are taken up for final disposal at the stage of admission itself. Mr.M.Alagathevan, learned Special Government Pleader, takes notice for the respondent in all cases.
3.According to the petitioners, their lands were acquired by the respondent under the Special Minor Irrigation Project and compensation amount was also awarded. Thereafter, several suits were filed, seeking enhancement of compensation which ended in favour of the land owners. It is the specific case of the petitioners that as per the direction of the Hon'ble Apex Court, same yardstick to be adopted and compensation should be given to all land owners, covered by the same notification. In this regard, the petitioners submitted representations on 10.04.2017 and as the same are kept pending, without any action, the petitioners are before this Court.
4. When the matter is taken up for hearing, the learned Counsel for the petitioners submitted that it would be suffice, if their representation is disposed of by the respondent, within a stipulated time period, in the manner known to law.
5. Considering the limited scope of the relief now sought for, this Court, without going into the merits of the case, directs the respondent to consider the representations of the petitioners dated 10.04.2017 and pass appropriate orders, on its own merits and in accordance with law, after affording due opportunity of hearing to the petitioners, within a period of six weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.
6. With the above direction, these Writ Petitions are disposed of. No costs.
