The petitioners are residents of Nedumbassery. Going by the proposal, they point out that intersections with cross roads junctions have to be provided. This is not acceptable. In any view of the matter, the feasibility of such intersections etc. are to be left exclusively to the authority concerned. However, we find from Exts.P1 and P7 that there is likelihood of accidents in two road median cuttings. The learned Senior Government Pleader assures on behalf of respondents 3 to 5 that needful will be done to avert the accidents, if necessary, by providing appropriate road safety WPC 26436/2014 2 instructions in that area and also prohibiting unauthorised cross movement of vehicles. The submissions are recorded. If the petitioners have a grievance that there is lack of appropriate facilities for pedestrians to cross the road, this will also be addressed by the police authorities.
This writ petition is ordered accordingly.
