JUDGMENT / ORDER

This writ petition has been filed by the petitioner, seeking a Writ of Mandamus, directing the third respondent to furnish the information sought for, by him in his petition dated 22.05.2017, filed under Right to Information Act, 2005.
2. The petitioner, who is an agriculturalist, in order to prevent illegal mining and to safeguard the agricultural activities, has given various complaints before the authorities concerned. In the meanwhile, he has also filed a petition before the third respondent, on 22.05.2017, under Section 6 of the Right to Information Act, 2005, which, according to the petitioner is kept pending, without any action. Aggrieved thereby, the petitioner is before this Court.
3. Heard the learned Counsel appearing for the petitioner and the learned Special Government Pleader appearing for the respondents.
4. Though the prayer in this writ petition is large in nature, the learned Counsel for the petitioner now confines his prayer to the extent of issuance of direction to the competent authority to take appropriate action against illegal quarrying.
5. Considering the limited scope of the relief sought for, this Court, without going into the merits of the case, directs the Director of Geology and Mining to forward the complaints / petitions, submitted by the petitioner to the competent authority, within a period of two weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order and on receipt of the same, the Competent Authority, in turn is directed to take appropriate action against illegal mining, within a period of four weeks, thereafter.
6. With the above direction, this Writ Petition is disposed of. No costs.
