JUDGMENT / ORDER

[Order of the Court was made by M.JAICHANDREN,J.] Heard the learned counsel appearing on behalf of the petitioner, as well as the learned Additional Public Prosecutor appearing on behalf of the respondents. 2 This Habeas Corpus Petition has been filed, praying that this Court may be pleased to issue a Writ of Habeas Corpus, directing the respondents to secure the wife of the petitioner, namely, Amsayal, aged about 57 years, and to produce her before this court and to set her at liberty.
3 The petitioner had stated that his wife, namely, Amsayal, had been missing, from 14.10.2016. Therefore, a complaint had been lodged before the second respondent, on 15.10.2016. The said complaint had been registered, in C.S.R No.452/2016, dated 19.10.2016. As no further steps had been taken, the petitioner has preferred the present Habeas Corpus Petition.
4 At this stage of the hearing of the Habeas Corpus Petition, a status report, dated 19.12.2016, had been filed before this Court, giving details of the steps taken by the respondent police to trace the detenue. We are convinced that the respondent police are taking sufficient steps to trace the detenue, Amsayal. In such circumstances, we are of the view that no further orders are necessary in the present Habeas Corpus Petition. Hence, the Habeas Corpus Petition stands closed. However, it goes without saying that the respondent police shall continue the investigation to trace the detenue and to take necessary steps, in accordance with law.
