For Petitioner : Mr.K.Balakrishnan For Respondents : Mr.C.Emalias, APP ORDER This Criminal Original Petition has been filed seeking a direction to the respondents to investigate the FIR in Crime No.889 of 2014 registered by the second respondent and file the final report as required under Section 170(1) Cr.P.C.
2. The case of the petitioner is that she has lodged a complaint with the second respondent about snatching of her gold chains weighing 9½ sovereigns. The said complaint was registered by the second respondent as FIR in Crime No.889 of 2014 for the offence under Section 379 IPC. Though the petitioner's complaint was registered on 14.07.2014, till date, final report was not filed. Hence, this petition.
3. Heard the learned counsel for the petitioner and the learned Additional Public Prosecutor, who took notice for the respondents.
4. Considering the facts and circumstances of the case, this Court directs the second respondent to investigate the case in Crime No.889 of 2014 pending on his file and file a final report, if not filed earlier, as expeditiously as possible, preferably, within a period of eight weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.
5. Accordingly, the Criminal Original Petition is disposed of.
