JUDGMENT / ORDER

Heard the learned counsel for the petitioners and the learned Standing Counsel for the second respondent, apart from perusing the record. Since the issue lies in a narrow compass, this Court proposes to dispose of the writ petition at the admission stage itself. 2. Briefly stated, the second and third petitioners, diploma holders, working as Power Plant Operator and Draftsman respectively, have a grievance that they have been discriminated against by not extending the benefit of the pay scale applicable to the cadre of Assistant Managers. Ventilating the said grievance, along with the first petitioner, who is a union espousing the cause of the workmen, they have filed the present writ petition.
WPC 30812/14 2
3. The learned counsel for the petitioners has submitted that same benefit is extended to the employees in the Electrical Division, but not to the employees working in the Mechanical Division.
4. The learned Standing Counsel, on his part, has submitted that going by the record, the petitioners seem to have submitted Exhibits P4 and P5 representations before the second respondent. It would suffice, according to the learned Standing Counsel, if a direction is given for their disposal.
In the facts and circumstances, having regard to the respective submissions of the learned counsel for the petitioner and the learned Standing Counsel for the second respondent, this Court, without adverting to the merits of the matter, disposes of the writ petition with a direction to the second respondent to consider Exhibits P4 and P5 representations of the petitioners, if they have been WPC 30812/14 3 received and pending, in accordance with law and pass appropriate orders thereon, as expeditiously as possible, at any rate, within a period of two months from the date of receipt of a copy of this judgment.
