The petitioner has approached this Court seeking correction in wrong entries in the passport. Petitioner admittedly has obtained a passport from the passport authorities bearing No.J 3858391. The date of birth in the above passport is shown as 16.6.1988. According to the petitioner, his actual date of birth is 16.6.1992.
2. A detailed counter-statement has been filed by respondents 1 and 2. It is stated that the petitioner has obtained the above passport by furnishing copies of birth certificate, SSLC Book and electoral identity card showing the entries regarding the date of birth is similar to the one shown in the above passport. Therefore it is stated that Ext.P2 produced as a birth certificate is fabricated.
3. I am of the view, the passport authorities shall look into Ext.P2. The petitioner's case is that earlier passport was obtained through a travel agency. Petitioner WP(C).No.21361/2014-U.
2 does not want to rely on details of the earlier passport. Therefore, the petitioner is directed to surrender the above passport and apply for a fresh passport along with an affidavit stating reasons for showing the details in the earlier passport. It is for the passport authorities to satisfy the genuineness of the claim of the petitioner. If the passport authorities finds that the petitioner has explained reasons for wrong details in earlier passport, the fresh application shall be processed in accordance with law.
Writ petition is disposed of as above.
