1. Called in revise. None appeared on behalf of the petitioner to press this writ petition. Learned Standing Counsel is present for respondents.
2. By means of the present writ petition, petitioner has sought following reliefs:
"i. To issue a writ, order in the nature Mandamus commanding the Respondent No.2 to pass an appropriate order on the claim of the petitioner for providing promotion under 50% quota on the post of Lecturer in Geography and further to vacate the Order dated 5.8.1997 (Annexure VI to this writ petition) by which the order of approval is stayed as per opinion sought by the District Inspector of Schools and the reply given by the Joint Director of Education within a fix period.
ii. To issue a writ, order or direction in the nature of mandamus commanding the respondents to allow the petitioner to continue and pay his salary on the post of Lecturer to which he is working.
iii. To issue a writ, order or direction in the nature of Certiorari quashing the Order dated 5.8.97 as no any decision has yet been taken in spite of completing all the formalities."
3. I myself have gone through the pleadings, grounds as also reliefs sought and find that petitioner is not able to make out a case so as to justify interference of this Court by granting reliefs, as prayed for.
4. Moreover, it appears that either the cause of action no more survives or that petitioner has lost interest in this matter or it has otherwise become infructuous and, probably for this reason, none is interested to have decided this matter on merits and that is why, counsel for petitioner is absent.
5. Dismissed. Interim order, if any, stands vacated.
