THIS WRIT PETITION IS FILED UNDER ARTICLES 226 AND 227 OF THE CONSTITUTION OF INDIA PRAYING TO DECLARE THE PETITIONER TO BE ELIGIBLE TO PARTICIPATE IN THE COMMON PG ADMISSIONS 2018 FOR ADMISSIONS TO THE MASTER’S AND DOCTORAL DEGREE PROGRAMMES OFFERED BY THE R-3 TO R-7 AND TO PERMIT THE PETITIONER TO SELECT SEAT IN ACCORDANCE WITH HER MERIT SECURED IN THE ENTRANCE TEST.
THIS PETITION COMING ON FOR PRELIMINARY HEARING IN ‘B’ GROUP, THIS DAY, THE COURT MADE THE FOLLOWING:
O R D E R The petitioner has sought for the following reliefs:
i. Issue a writ in the nature of mandamus or any other appropriate writ or order or directions; declaring the petitioner to be eligible to participate in the Common PG Admissions 2018 for admissions to the Master’s and Doctoral Degree Programmes offered by the respondent Nos.3 to 7 and to permit the petitioner to select seat in accordance with her merit secured in the entrance test; and ii. Issue a writ in the nature of mandamus or any other appropriate writ or order or directions; declaring the requirement of domicile of a minimum of seven years to participate in the Common PG Admissions 2018 for admissions to the Master’s and Doctoral Degree Programmes offered by the respondent Nos.3 to 7 as arbitrary and illegal; and iii. Issue any other appropriate writ, or order or direction as this Hon’ble Court deems fit to grant in the ends of justice.
2. Learned counsel for the petitioner submits that by virtue of the interim order granted by this court, the petitioner had appeared for the PG examination 2018 and is not successful. Hence, the relief No.1 has rendered infructuous.
3. The second relief also has rendered academic since the petitioner being unsuccessful in the Common PG Admissions 2018.
Hence, the writ petition stands dismissed having rendered infructuous.
