Respondent Petition filed under Article 226 of The Constitution of India praying to issue a writ of mandamus to direct the respondent police herein to grant permission for cultural event, namely, Dance Programme scheduled to be held on 16.09.2017 at night from 7.10 p.m. in connection with "Adi Festival" at Arulmigu Sri Klavizhi Amman Koil at Balakrishna Road, Ganeshapuram, Mylapore, Chennai.
For Petitioner : Mr.Sathya Narayanan For Respondents : Mr.R.Rajeswaran Special Government Pleader O R D E R Mr.R.Rajeswaran, learned Special Government Pleader, takes notice for the respondent. By consent, the main writ petition itself is taken up for disposal at the admission stage itself.
2. The petitioner has filed the above Writ Petition to issue a writ of mandamus to direct the respondent police to grant permission for cultural event, namely, Dance Programme scheduled to be held on 16.09.2017 at night from 7.10 p.m. in connection with "Adi Festival" at Arulmigu Sri Klavizhi Amman Koil at Balakrishna Road, Ganeshapuram, Mylapore, Chennai.
3. It is the case of the petitioner that in spite of the representation being given to the respondent on 02.09.2017 for conducting cultural programme in the Temple on 16.09.2017, the respondent has not passed orders till today.
4. A Division Bench of this Court , in W.P.(MD).No.3773 of 2017, by order dated 03.03.2017, in similar circumstances, directed the respondent therein to consider the petitioner's representation and dispose of the same.
5. Following the order passed by the Division Bench, I direct the respondent to consider the petitioner's representation dated 02.09.2017. and pass orders, on merits and in accordance with law, on or before 11.00 a.m on 16.09.2017 With this observation, the Writ Petition is disposed of. No costs.
