Heard Sri Srinivasa Rao Madiraju, learned counsel appearing for the petitioner and Sri Bathula Raj Kiran, learned Standing Counsel for the respondents-
Life Insurance Corporation of India (the Corporation, for short).
2. The petitioner is working as a Stenographer in the Divisional Office, Hyderabad of the respondents- Corporation. It is submitted that the petitioner’s younger son is mentally retarded and earlier he sought transfer to the Divisional Office, Hyderabad. The petitioner’s son is now aged about 24 years and his treatment at Hyderabad is completed. The petitioner wants to get his son treated in the hospital at Visakhapatnam. The petitioner has a house at Visakhapatnam and his daughter was recently employed in Visakhapatnam. Visakhapatnam is the home town of the petitioner. He wants to get his son treated at Visakhapatnam and also to perform the marriage of his elder daughter there. He is due to retire in 19 months.
3. According to the Office Memorandum dated 15-02-1991, an employed parent of a mentally retarded child can seek transfer to the place where the mentally retarded child is required to be treated. It is submitted by the learned counsel appearing for the petitioner that the respondents-Corporation is acceding to the request of the employees who are due to retire within a period of two years and accordingly considered the request of one Y.Mercy Manoranjani.
4. The petitioner made representations to the respondents-Corporation on 28-7-2014, 09-8-2014 and 29-9-2014 requesting to transfer him to Visakhapatnam. The request of the petitioner seems to be genuine.
5. Therefore, in the circumstances, the respondents-
Corporation is directed to consider the aforesaid representations made by the petitioner whereunder he sought transfer to Visakhapatnam within a period of 6 (six) weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. The writ petition is disposed of accordingly.
The miscellaneous petitions, if any, pending in this writ petition shall stand closed. No costs.
